Karsten Löffler has been Co-Head of the Frankfurt School – UNEP Collaborating Centre for Climate & Sustainable Energy Finance since 2017. Building on his considerable practical experience in the financial sector, in particular in climate finance innovation, Löffler is currently working on mechanisms that support the transition to a low-carbon financial sector and identify risks and opportunities for financial actors. Löffler is also Managing Director of the Green and Sustainable Finance Cluster Germany and chair of the supervisory board of the Dutch development finance cooperative Oikocredit.

He is a member of the steering committee of the Science Platform Sustainability 2030.
