Dr. Dr. Ariel Hernandez ist seit 2018 wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter bei der Wissenschaftsplattform Nachhaltigkeit 2030. Er ist angegliedert an die Trägerorganisation DKN Future Earth zur Unterstützung des Co-Vorsitzenden Prof. Dirk Messner
In addition to his support to the Science Platform on Sustainability 2030, Dr. Hernandez is currently a researcher at the German Development Institute belonging to the research cluster knowledge cooperation. He was a fellow at the Käte Hamburger Kolleg / Centre for Global Cooperation Research of the University of Duisburg-Essen (2016-2017) as well as scientist at the Fraunhofer Centre for International Mangaement and Knowledge Economy (2014-2017) in Leipzig. In addition, he was lecturer and researcher at the Institute for Infrastructure and Resources Management at the University of Leipzig (2011-2014). As a lecturer (assistant prof. level) at the University of Leipzig, University of Cologne, University of Tartu (Estonia), Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico and Ateneo de Manila University, he taught modules/classes on climate change, energy and environmental politics, sustainability politics, and negotiations. He was coordinator of the Processes on International Negotiations (PIN) Program at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Laxenburg, Austria. He holds a doctoral degree in Philosophy (pol. science) from the University of Vienna and a doctoral degree in Economics and Social Sciences from the University of Cologne. He is currently pursuing his Habilitation at the University of Duisburg-Essen. His research interests include decision and negotiation analysis, public policy analysis, climate politics, sustainable development and energy security.
