Ulrike Schell sits on the Executive Board of the Consumer Organisation of Nord Rhein-Westphalia, where she is also head of the Food and Environment department. Her work revolves around sustainable consumption, environmental protection, food and nutrition. Schell also represents the Consumer Organisation on expert panels at local and national level and contributes to the work of various committees on research- and practice-oriented projects concerned with sustainable development and consumption.

She is a member of the steering committee of the Science Platform Sustainability 2030 and a member of the working group on Sustainable Consumption.
